HUEVOS RANCHEROS - Cindy With An 'S' b/w Branded & Reptile 7" EP (Lucky Records - 1992)

Canadian instro-mental trio, HUEVOS RANCHEROS, geared up in 1990. By '92 they were an integral part of the "drag-punk underground" crowd of bands that were peelin' out in the parking lot of the Estrus Records headquarters. The Huevos swerved a strictly retro surf sound, instead opting to bolt a bit of Link Wray meets Dick Dale distorted rumble onto the raunchy sixties surf grind of The Centurians and The Sentinals. For added horsepower they decked it out with punk-approved performance parts and hot-rodded rockabilly riffs.

Before the dust had even settled from the racket they had created on their '91 Estrus EP, "Rocket To Nowhere", the nitro-burnin' Cindy With An 'S' EP, (sponsored by Lucky Records), was rippin' up the local strip. "Cindy" was a blast of pure fury. A real door slammer with thunderous torque and a heavy foot on the effects pedal. The Huevos took Link Wray's "Branded" for a joyride around the block and paid their dues to the official Estrus Timing Association, with a complimentary tune-up of The Mono Men's, "Reptile" on the flip side.
